REVELATION VERSE BY VERSE
No other Book of the Bible evokes the same fascination as the book of Revelation. Even a casual reader of the book is excited with the tremendous scope of its prophecies. Most important is the revelation concerning Jesus Christ, introduced as the major theme of the book.
To us today much of prophecy has now become history. But there is yet one book which largely concerns the future, the Book of Revelation. Most people believe it cannot be understood because it is a hodgepodge of signs, symbols and visions. The language seems so figurative. John employed first century language to describe events that could happen in the twenty-first century.
Humanity refuses to face the emptiness of their meaningless worldview. They do not want to be reminded of their impending death or their unknown eternity that follows. They do not want to consider their accountability before their Creator. They deny that they are bankrupt and lost in their meaningless existence of life apart from God. But what will be their destiny?
In this twenty-first century, we are bombarded with dire, cynical predictions for the future. Everywhere people are asking 'Is there any hope?' The media is permeated with pessimistic threats of economic chaos, nuclear war, and the depletion of the earth's nonrenewable resources, spiraling crime, violence, mysterious new killer viruses, terrorism, radically changing weather patterns, earthquakes, floods, famines, and the like. The media, intellectual and scientific community seems to be answering, "There is no hope for our planet!"
A proper understanding of this book will help you know what God has in store for this world before it comes to pass, so that you may prepare yourself and not be taken unaware. It will afford you a confident faith with which to confront the political, social, and religious chaos that is imminent.
